Loch Ness, a lake region of Scotland known for its legendary sea monster, earned a negative on-star review on TripAdvisor this summer because the monster isn’t real.

“No loch ness monster!!!” said the review submitted by a man named Ron in June. “What a disappointment. We travelled 400 miles from Grimsby to see the Loch Ness monster and it didn't show up.”

Grimsby is a town in North East Lincolnshire, England.

Although some people believe the sea creature, also known as “Nessie” lives in the Scottish lake, it is widely considered a myth and evidence of its existence has been discredited. It is unclear if Ron didn’t know this, didn’t care or was joking in his post.

“DON'T GO if you are wanting to see it because it you will end up bitterly disappointed like we were,” he said in his review.

Ron went on to say that he brought his wife and two children along for the trip and that the area was crowded, dirty and had unpredictable weather.

“I thought the whole experience was horrendous I wish I hadn't bothered. It's just a tourist trap and not sure why they would advertise the loch ness monster when it's all a lie,” Ron said. “There's much better places in Scotland won't be coming back.”

Even though Loch Ness failed to impress the English traveler and his family, it still retains a 4.5-star rating overall on TripAdvisor.

Pim G, another reviewer who visited the site in 2019, also said they were disappointed that Nessie didn’t show up and gave a one-star review. However, Pim said the lake was “wonderful.”
