“Sex and the City” fans are eagerly awaiting the return of the show to their screens via the HBO reboot “And Just Like That…”, but what many may not be aware of is that one of the show’s stars, Sarah Jessica Parker, is not just responsible for bringing her character back, but her possessions as well.

“I kept every single solitary thing,” Parker told Vogue of the iconic wardrobe and items of her character, Carrie Bradshaw.

From fur coats to tiny briefs to the coffee table in the living room, the actress kept every item “packed according to season and episode and scene” in her own storage.

The furniture, which was part of Carrie’s bachelorette pad, has been used to recreate the apartment on the show’s set, though fans of the series and subsequent films know that Parker’s character was living elsewhere with her husband, Mr. Big when last we saw her. What does this mean for their relationship and for Carrie’s life specifically?

Parker shared that it will be “one of the questions that’s going to come up in ‘And Just Like That…’ will be, what is it about a place like this that you need to hold on to for all these years? Why can’t you just let it go?”

Apart from some details about which cast members will and won’t be returning, not many details about the reboot have been released, and Parker does not seem keen to spill the beans. “I’m going to leave you very unsatisfied,” she told the outlet.

However, it is known that Parker’s character Carrie Bradshaw has made a career pivot since audiences last saw her, moving from being a freelance writer to a podcaster.

Though many fans have shared their excitement over the reboot, Parker is also aware of some of the negative reactions to the show. “There’s so much misogynist chatter in response to us that would never. Happen. About. A. Man,” she said.

“Especially on social media. Everyone has something to say. ‘She has too many wrinkles, she doesn’t have enough wrinkles.’ It almost feels as if people don’t want us to be perfectly okay with where we are, as if they almost enjoy us being pained by who we are today, whether we choose to age naturally and not look perfect, or whether you do something if that makes you feel better.” Parker continued, noting that she knows “what I look like. I have no choice. What am I going to do about it? Stop aging? Disappear?”

One thing that hasn’t changed is Parker’s sense for how her character would react in different scenarios. Costar Cynthia Nixon pointed out that “Sarah has a million obligations, personal and professional, and she gets an A+ on all of them. Carrie doesn’t have a lot of responsibilities, and she doesn’t always make the best decisions. When we’re shooting a restaurant scene, Sarah won’t order a salad or a steak; she’ll be like, ‘too sensible for Carrie.’ She’ll order escargots instead.”

“And Just Like That…” will premiere on HBO Max in December.
