JJ Watt played the final game of his Hall of Fame career on Sunday and of course made sure he provided at least one more big play.
In the first quarter against the San Francisco 49ers, Watt recorded the 113th sack of his career when he brought down Brock Purdy for a six-yard loss.
Watt got up and took a bow to celebrate the sack.
The sack brought Watt’s total to 11.5 on the season — his first double-digit sack season since 2018 — proving he is still an effective pass rusher. But the 33-year-old announced two weeks ago he would be stepping away from the game, saying it is the “right time.”
Watt’s brothers, TJ and Derek, both of whom play for the Steelers, also showed their appreciate for JJ by donning his jersey prior to Sunday’s games, which Watt said on Twitter meant “the world to him.”
Watt ends his career after 12 seasons, 10 with the Houston Texans and two with the Arizona Cardinals, and as a three-time Defensive Player of the Year Award winner and five-time All-Pro.
