(SportsRadio 610) -- For the Texans' three holdover outside linebackers transitioning to defensive end this year, the main difference is playing with their hand in the dirt rather than standing.

Whitney Mercilus, Jacob Martin and Jonathan Greenard have all spoken on the adjustment from a 3-4 to a 4-3 system at training camp.

Something they all appreciate is having fewer coverage responsibilities, and really being able to focus on rushing.

Martin said Monday he's more comfortable in the 4-3 system.

“Yeah, I think it's like a homecoming for me, being able to put my hand back in the dirt," Martin said. "I was at Temple for three and a half years and played true defensive end and I'm a lot more comfortable playing defensive end rather than outside linebacker, honestly. So it's been nice, real nice to get back to that."

Clint Stoerner and Ron "The Show" Hughley spoke more with Martin after Monday's practice.
