HOUSTON -- After one half of football, the Texans lead the Jacksonville Jaguars .

The Texans' defense, already working with a lead, intercepted rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence on back-to-back possessions.

Safety Justin Reid picked off a Lawrence pass and returned it for 21 yards, though Houston was unable to capitalize with points.

But on the Jags' next drive, Vernon Hargreaves II picked off another Lawrence pass to set up 1st-and-goal for Houston.

The Texans took an early lead against the Jaguars with a 14-play, 84-yard scoring drive capped by a short Mark Ingram touchdown run.

The drive took 7:02 off the game clock. Houston extended its lead after the Jaguars missed a 55-yard field goal attempt.

It took the Texans five plays and 2:14 to go 55 yards for the score. Tyrod Taylor found David Johnson for a seven-yard touchdown pass.

Joey Slye connected on field goals of 40 yards and 26 yards to extend the Texans' lead 20-7.

Then in the final minute of the half, the Texans scored another touchdown, this time Taylor finding Danny Amendola for an eight-yard catch and run set up by a deep shot to Brandin Cooks.

The veteran Taylor so far is outplaying the rookie Lawrence.

Taylor went 14-for-23 with a pair of touchdown throws, 229 passing yards and a 123.3 passer rating.

Lawrence was 10-of-21 for 133 yards, one touchdown pass and a pair of interceptions for a 44.4 passer rating.
