The Texans are adding a cornerback-kick returner with the signing of Tremon Smith to a one-year contract, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

Smith, whose played for the Colts, Packers, Eagles and briefly at running back for the Kansas City Chiefs, is signing deal with a $1.13 million in maximum value, Wilson reports.

The contract includes an $80,000 signing bonus, $920,000 base salary, $20,000 workout bonus and up to $80,000 in per game active roster bonus, according to Wilson.

Smith is reuniting with Texans special teams coordinator Frank Ross, who coached him last season in Indianapolis where he averaged 22.5 yards per kickoff return.

Smith, a 2018 sixth-round draft pick by the Chiefs in 2018, has 54 career returns for 1,369 yards, averaging 25.4 yards a return.
