NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A group of firefighters drilled through wall to rescue a girl who got trapped inside a Long Island, New York dressing room that once served as a bank vault, authorities said.

The 14-year-old girl was accidentally locked into a dressing room at Kate & Hale, a women’s clothing store on Main Street in Port Jefferson Village, on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Port Jefferson Fire Department and an ABC7 report.

The building that houses the store used to be a bank, and a steel door that was once part of a vault was propped open in front of the dressing room area, the outlet reported.

As the girl was trying on clothes, her 7-year-old brother accidentally shut the vault door, according to the outlet.

“I was pushing, and they were pulling, and it wasn’t opening,” the girl told the outlet.

A Port Jefferson Fire Department crew arrived at the store soon after the girl’s mother called 911, the outlet reported.

Firefighters “used air chisels and hammer drills to breach the 12-inch-thick wall,” the department wrote on Facebook.

“Once the hole was large enough, the girl was able to be assisted out,” the department said. “Fortunately, the girl was uninjured.”
