For the 17th year, a “fierce but friendly” rivalry took place pitting alumni and friends of the University of Virginia and Virginia Tech against each other in a contest to see who could collect the most funds for Feed More. The Hokies vs. Hoos Food Fight, coordinated by the UVA Club of Richmond and the Richmond Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association, has become one of Feed More’s most anticipated food drive competitions.
This year donations were made through the Food Fight link at Feed More’s website throughout the NCAA basketball tournament. From the day after Selection Sunday to the championship game, donations were collected and tracked on the website. The Hokies were looking for a repeat win after breaking a four-year winning streak by the Hoos.
The final tally of the 2021 Food Fight: Hokies: $1,240, Hoos: $482
According to Feed More, collectively, the funds will help the organization provide close to 7,000 meals for neighbors in need.
The Hokies win for the second straight year while the Hoos continue to lead the series nine to eight. Both alumni associations and Feed More would like to thank everyone who participated in this year’s event.
