Shopping online isn’t as easy as it seems.

Let's Shop!
Getty ImagesAs Amazon, the TikTok shop, and other platforms gain more sellers, the quality of items and likelihood of scams is going up. Here are some things to pay attention to so you can avoid being swindled, according to AARP:
- Shopping without a plan. Create a shopping list and stick to it, just like you would at the grocery store. Don’t go on a shopping spree
- Scrolling while hungry. Low blood sugar lowers cognitive ability, so snack before you shop online
- Feeling pressure to buy. Slow down, add items to your cart then walk away for a while. Then come back and reassess

You are Not missing out....always
Getty Images- Getting caught up in FOMO. Sales are great, but are you getting an actual deal? Sign up for price alerts with an online tool like CamelCamelCamel, Droplist, or Keepa to receive an email or text message when the price of a product drops
- Products labeled “Best Seller,” “Overall Pick” or “Amazon’s Choice” can be enticing, but they’re not necessarily a deal or a high-quality item. Vendors can buy those labels…they aren’t chosen by Amazon
- Not reading product descriptions closely. Read the full product description, watching out for egregious spelling or grammatical errors as it may be a tipoff to a scam or dodgy products
- Assuming the first search result is the best product. “Featured from Amazon brands” and “Sponsored” usually appear at the top, but that doesn’t mean they are good products
- Trusting star ratings. Check the one star ratings first.
If you are shopping online don't forget to get a little trinket for Wicker & Wilde LOL!
