Runaway Bride was found as a stray who was clearly fleeing a not-so-great situation. She came to us with an embedded collar wound around her neck, flystrike on her ears, loaded with intestinal parasites, and to top it all off, tested positive for heartworm disease. Not to worry, though! Now that she's safe and sound in our care, she is receiving the treatment she needs to be on her way to well. At this point, all she needs is a loving home to care for her for the rest of her days!
Bride is the easygoing, low-energy type of companion. We call her Miss Independent around here, since she prefers to do her own thing. She's more curious about her surroundings than she is interested in receiving affection from hoomans. During her behavior assessment, she was avoidant and seeking a way out of the situation when being introduced to other dogs, so she would prefer to be the only woofer in your life. She also displayed the highest level of resource guarding when it comes to her food, so a home with adolescents 15 years or older is a must. Please keep in mind that this behavior will require careful management in the home, but can be worked with through structure and consistency.
