IYKYK....Migraines suck. And it seems that more and more of us are getting migraines - but why? Well, some migraine sufferers may have an important answer to why they get the debilitating headaches; poor dental hygiene.
A new study from the University of Sydney suggests bacteria and other microorganisms living in your mouth could spark migraines. Researchers asked women to fill out a questionnaire about their mouth health based on the World Health Organization's (WHO) oral health survey along with collecting saliva samples.

The study’s lead author said researchers found incredibly strong signs connecting mouth health to pain triggers. Scientists are still working to find how microbes contribute to pain. The study also linked poor oral health to fibromyalgia pain. One researcher says that at first glance it also seems that poor oral health can cause, “..... fatigue, sleep disturbances, and cognitive problems.”
Let's face it, it's always a good thing to take care of your teeth and good oral hygiene is never a bad thing. And if it may mean you get rid of your migraines and physical pain in general, then dooooeeeeeeet. Brush and Floss twice a day so the dentists say!
