Wicker & Wilde got to speak to the organizer of The Ultimate Backpack Supply Drive and learned how we can all help local students. This is a program that is designed to provide students with brand new backpacks filled with school supplies, free of charge, in the local community to ensure students start their school year on the right foot. The Ultimate Backpack Supply Drive is the largest school supply drive in the Commonwealth in Virginia and one of the largest in the country.
Partnership:
The event is led by VCU in partnership with Communities In Schools.
2022 Goal:
Goal is to serve 50,000+ students benefiting 5 school districts (Chesterfield, Hanover, Henrico, Petersburg and Richmond) and the Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU.
**Important Note**
This event on August 11th is strictly for the community to drop off school supplies (Families will not be able to receive their backpacks)
