We can all count on fast food chains for quick and easy meals, but they’re not known for healthy, nutritious food. Sure, some have salads and other healthy options on the menu, but that’s not what most folks are ordering at the drive-thru. Certainly not Wicker & Wilde.....but if you’re trying to be more health-conscious, there are some items you should steer clear of because they’re loaded with calories, fat, carbs and sodium.
According to a new ranking of the unhealthiest fast food menu items from Eat This, Not That, these are some of the ones to avoid:
14. Panda Express – Fried Rice Side - The calories are one thing, coming in at 620 but the carbs add up to 101! That's more than any helping of meat from the restaurant. The worst dishes to get at Panda Express, as far as being unhealthy include the orange chicken, Beijing beef, and honey walnut shrimp.
10. KFC – Nashville Hot Loaded Fries Bowl - This meal is relatively new to the fast food chain and combines KFC's secret recipe fries with coleslaw pickles, 5 original recipe nuggets, Nashville hot sauce and comes in with 910 calories and 60 Grams of fat. Another one to consider avoiding is the Korean BBQ Loaded Fries Bowl with 770 calories, 39 grams of fat, and even more sodium than the Nashville meal with 2,640 milligrams of sodium– more than a whole day's worth of recommended sodium. Eat these and your doctor will hate you.
9. Chick-fil-A – Cobb Salad - Sure a salad sounds like it could be healthy but not this one. According to Eat This Not That, "More often than not, fast-food salads contain just as many calories as burgers or other entrees." This one salad loads you down with 830 calories (the original Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich has 440 calories) Sure there are tomatoes and healthy eggs on this salad but also fried chicken nuggets, bacon, and the avocado lime ranch dressing which adds 310 calories and 32 grams of fat.
5) Burger King: Bacon King - The six slices of bacon, two patties, American cheese, ketchup and mayo between those buns add up to 12-hundred calories, 2270 milligrams of sodium and 81 grams of total fat.
4) Wendy’s: Big Bacon Classic Triple - This monster burger stacks three quarter-pound patties on top of each other, along with applewood smoked bacon, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, ketchup and mayonnaise, for a total of 86 grams of fat and 36 grams of saturated fat. That’s 163% of the recommended daily allowance of around 20 grams of saturated fat!
3) Popeyes: Signature Hot Bone-In Wings or Louisiana Garlic Bone-In Wings - Just six of these wings in either sauce contain 12-hundred calories, but even worse? The fat content! There are 94 grams of fat in 6 of the Signature Hot Wings and 98 grams of fat in the buttery Louisiana Garlic Wings. And that’s not even counting the ranch lots of people dip them in.
2) McDonald’s: Big Breakfast with Hotcakes - Unless you want to start your day with 158 carbs, 63 grams of fat and 2,070 milligrams of sodium, you may want to order a different breakfast.
1) Dairy Queen: Honey BBQ Chicken Strip Basket - These six chicken fingers and fries are the least healthy fast food option around thanks to the 1480 calories, 61 grams of fat, 186 grams of carbs and the shocking 3,570 milligrams of sodium.
Now, if you are craving any of these, most experts will agree to let yourself splurge. However, they advise to not make that a habit. Remember, the saying, "everything in moderation." And Happy Eating!
