Josh Allen was playing Sunday’s game with a heavy heart.
The Buffalo Bills quarterback turned in one of his best performances of his career in a win over the Seattle Seahawks, and did so just one day after finding out his grandmother had passed away.
Bills head coach Sean McDermott revealed as much after the game to ProFootballTalk and said that he had to ask Allen if he was fine to play on Sunday.
“I don’t think that came close, but it’s always a consideration, right, when you experience things like this,” he said. “That always could happen. I think Josh certainly felt it last night but when I asked him, he said he wanted to play. I really appreciate that he wanted to play and that he stuck it out. You’ve got to be able to compartmentalize that for 24 hours so that you can focus and do your job and I thought he did a great job of that today and players rallied around him.”
Allen certainly was able to do just that, completing 31 of 38 pass attempts to match a career-high 415 yards and three touchdowns and running for another en route to a 34-24 win over a dangerous Seahawks team.
