The visual keeps things simple, starting off with the band giving songwriting session vibes, sitting around in a circle performing together in a home studio.
Prinsloo's first appears in the video laughing and chatting with Levine and his bandmates at a picnic table. In other scenes, Behati can be seen sitting in her husband's lap, lying alongside her hubby in a hammock as their daughters playfully climb all over them.
At another point in the visual, Levine plays a game of chess with one of his daughters. And the girls are also seen playing with bubbles outside and sitting alongside their mom as they watch Maroon 5 perform.
Speaking to People about the track and music video, Levine said, "we wanted to let the lyrics tell the story and message, and allow the visuals to connect to the audience in a very personal and human way.”
"The creative was to focus on the band—together—through a series of documentary-like images and vignettes: showing the process of creating the track, a 'making the song' with the band playing, discussing things and working parts out, including the casual goofing-off moments. But with a heartfelt and honest quality to it all.”
While the song is up to lyrical interpretation, as Levine noted, the fact that this new release comes less than a year after Levine found himself in the midst of cheating allegations isn’t. In September 2022, Levine made headlines when model Sumner Stroh claimed that she had a year-long affair with the singer. In a since-deleted TikTok video, Stroh shared private messages between herself and the musician to substantiate her story.
Levine addressed the allegations in a since-vanished Instagram story shortly after, explaining that his online behavior with other women had “crossed the line.” Alluding to the notion that nothing ever surpassed the internet. "I used poor judgment in speaking with anyone other than my wife in ANY kind of flirtatious manner,” Levine wrote. Denying having an affair, however admitting his online behavior during a "regrettable period" in his life had been “inappropriate."
The singer told fans he had taken "pro-active steps" to "remedy" the situation with his family, this new music video possibly being one of them. He also noted he was "naïve and stupid" to have had jeopardized his marriage to Prinsloo (who was pregnant with their third child at the time), taking “full responsibility.” Affirming, “We will get through it. And we will get through it together.”
