Think of this as, “The one where Courteney Cox sees a ghost.”
The classic sitcom “Friends” was known for its sarcastic catchphrases and de rigueur ‘90s irreverence. But there was nothing funny or snarky about Courteney Cox’s real-life ghost story.

The actress joined Jimmy Kimmel recently to discuss her latest STARZ series, “Shining Vale,” a spooky comedy about a dysfunctional family that moves into a haunted house. So of course, as Yahoo Entertainment reported, Kimmel had to ask if she actually believed in ghosts.
"I didn't believe at first," admitted Cox. "But I lived in this house in Laurel Canyon, which is in L.A., obviously, and it was Gypsy Rose Lee's house and Carole King.”
"So Carole King came over to my house,” she continued, “and she said that there had been a divorce that was really ugly, and there was a ghost in the house. And I was like, 'Yeah, whatever.' But other people who would stay there with me, like friends of mine, said they felt an encounter with a woman who was sitting on the edge of the bed. And I was like, 'Yeah, whatever.'"
Cox played along with the stories to the point of engaging in a séance with King, but still had her doubts. That is until a nosey UPS delivery guy came a-knocking one day.
"The doorbell rang," said Cox. "It was a UPS guy or something, and I opened the door and he said, 'Do you know this house is haunted?' And I go, 'Yeah, why? Why do you think that?' And he goes, 'Because there is someone standing behind you.'"
Kimmel’s studio audience gasped in loud unison, and Cox must’ve thought the same thing, as she followed with, "And I was like, 'Let's sell.'"
And she soon did, admitting, "I couldn't sleep there alone ever again.”
An aghast Kimmel could only respond, “What a terrible, terrible UPS guy.”
