Describing the project, Keke divulged it chronicles “my journey in the music industry.”
“It’s a narrative piece, but its also a musical, the whole album is like the soundtrack of the film,” she added. Keke inspiration for Big Boss came from “early 2000s movies, late 90s movies,” where “the soundtrack was always the thing.”
She continued, “I was like… I would love to use this album in the same way and just really have it be the music to my life.”
As for what she hopes people will gain from watching it, Keke’s desires are simple. “Specifically with music, cause I think that's where I always had the hardest journey — is just to rock with who rocks with you.”
“Because you always think, especially in music, ‘oh I need to be with this crew,’ or ‘I need these people to give me the stamp of approval,' or ‘I need to be rockin’ in this way.’ I think for me what I learned on my journey is just… it really don’t matter who it is… go where the love is, you don’t always have to force people to see it. If they don’t get it… just know that there are people that do.”
Keke and the morning show crew also talked about motherhood, which she calls “her greatest gig.” Also up for discussion, celebrity beauty standards, turning 30 (which will happen this August 26), and building an empire (nbd).
