Brendan Fraser is almost unrecognizable in his latest role.
Movie studio A24 shared a photo of Fraser in character and noted that “The Whale” will premiere at the upcoming 2022 Venice Film Festival.
The photo is a close-up shot of Fraser looking into the distance while wearing prosthetic makeup.
The film is the latest from director Darren Aronofsky, who previously helmed “Mother!,” “Black Swan,” and “The Wrestler,” among others.
Last year, Fraser opened up about his metamorphosis for the movie and described using prosthetics to get into character.
“It’s gonna be like something you haven’t seen before,” the “George of the Jungle” star told Unilad. “The wardrobe and costume was extensive, seamless, cumbersome. This is certainly far removed from anything I’ve ever done but not to be coy. I do know it’s going to make a lasting impression.”
Fraser made a name for himself in the ‘90s starring in a string of hits including “Encino Man,” “School Ties,” “George of the Jungle,’ “Gods and Monsters,” and “The Mummy.”
In recent years, he’s appeared on the Showtime series “The Affair” and is a main star on HBO Max’s “Doom Patrol.”
He’ll next be seen in Martin Scorsese’s western “Killers of the Flower Moon'' and will portray supervillain Garfield Lynns/Firefly in HBO Max’s “Batgirl” standalone film.
A release date for “The Whale” has not been announced.
