It’s been a bit since Diane Keaton went out on a date and she may know the reason why.
When asked by EXTRA how long it had been Keaton offered up a timeframe and reasoning.
“Dates are… let’s [say] 15 years,” the “Father of the Bride” star answered. “They probably just thought, ‘Enough’s enough… she’s too weird.’ I’m kind of odd, but I’m doing fine.”
Keaton was speaking to the publication in promotion of her new romantic comedy “Maybe I Do” also starring William H. Macy, Susan Sarandon, and Richard Gere. The latter someone she had her eyes on when the pair starred in 1977’s “Looking for Mr. Goodbar.”
“I had a crush on him, but he didn’t cotton to me at all,” Keaton told EXTRA. “He was supposed to care about me in the movie… but he didn’t want it!”
Keaton called Gere “great” these days after filming the new movie.
“Maybe I Do” is directed by Michael Jacobs and the IMDB plot reads, “Michelle and Allen are in a relationship. They decide to invite their parents to finally meet about marriage. Turns out, the parents already know one another well, which leads to some differing opinions about marriage.”
The movie hits theaters Jan. 27.
