As opposed to the original chicken sandwich from the fast food restaurant, this one comes breading-free.

According to Popeyes, the chicken breast is marinated for 12 hours. It’s then cooked and put on a brioche bun with pickles. The decision is up to the customer whether they have spicy or classic mayo added.

In a press release the company described the new flavors and techniques behind the sandwich, “the classic Blackening cooking technique, which originated in Louisiana and is used to better seal in seasoning and spices to flavor the meat.”

In an Instagram post Popeyes claimed they were releasing this one for all the copycats to try again who attempted to recreate the last time they released a chicken sandwich.

Hustle up to grab the Blackened Chicken Sandwich as it’s available nationwide at Popeyes locations but for only a limited time.
