Even though many Americans are experiencing financial stress, they are planning on spending more this Valentine’s Day, according to the National Retail Federation.
At one spot, they could drop $250,000 alone on dessert. That’s right – just dessert.
Serendipity3 in New York announced this week that it had partnered with jeweler Lorraine Schwartz to “create a special, limited-time diamond version of their signature Frrrozen Hot Chocolate.”
For the price of a studio condo in Jackson Heights, N.Y., the Diamond Frrrozen Hot Chocolate includes: Serendipity3’s blend of 14 exotic cocoas, topped with whipped cream, edible “diamond” glitter, 23K edible gold gilded chocolate shavings and a gilded chocolate sphere filled with edible diamonds. It also features gold straws and will have a Lorraine Schwartz-designed handmade 18k white gold diamond bypass ring with a 0.69 carat natural fancy pink heart shape diamond and a 0.77 carat natural very light blue pear shape diamond surrounded by 1.15 carats of white diamond pave placed on top.
All of that will be served in a goblet “dripping with Austrian crystals” made by “Crystal Ninja” Kellie DeFries. This Diamond Frrrozen Hot Chocolate will only be available on Valentine’s Day.
“As big lovers of Lorraine Schwartz, we were thrilled to get to work with her on this special Valentine’s Day Diamond Frrrozen Hot Chocolate featuring some of her gorgeous pieces,” said Chef Joe Calderone, creative director at Serendipity3. “The dessert is over-the-top in all the right ways and we know our Serendipity3 customers are absolutely going to love it.”
Serendipity3, located at 225 E 60th Street in New York City, is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. EST.
It was founded in 1954 and is “one of the city’s truly unique dining experiences,” according to a press release. Soon, the restaurant will serve its 30 millionth Frrrozen Hot Chocolate.
