Recently speaking with Yahoo! Entertainment, Lautner discussed being quite the home chef and some of his favorite foods to prepare and eat, but what he doesn’t miss is what he had to take down during his ‘Twilight’ years.

“For this little role that I did starting when I was 16, I was 140 pounds and I had to put on 35 pounds of muscle to keep my role,” he said. “That was an absolute nightmare in the diet compartment – raw sweet potatoes and turkey patties and protein shakes that were just essentially mud.”

Lautner said at the time he had to consume at least 5,000 calories a day to maintain the weight he was at. “That was rough,” he said.

The actor also touched on the wild “Twilight” diet demands in a conversation with E! News last week. Lautner said his trainer would tell him right after finishing a workout to “go to Carl’s Jr. and get a double, triple cheeseburger.”

Talking about his diet now, the actor said, “I’m not having an triple cheeseburgers, that’s for sure.”

Speaking more about his diet and current love for cooking, Lautner told Yahoo! he makes a “mean chicken thigh marinade.” He also went on to say he does a “great” steak and can whip up a superb cauliflower puree.

Lautner recently became engaged to longtime girlfriend Taylor Dome and said they were just starting menu planning for their upcoming nuptials but he hoped to include some sort of Mediterranean food.

Not a triple cheeseburger in sight.
