Tom Hanks got a little quirky with his cocktail recently.

Legendary actor Hanks appeared on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” this week and the pair chatted about a recent dinner he had out in New York City with his wife, Rita Wilson. A bottle of champagne was ordered, but Hanks usually doesn’t partake.
“I’m not a big drinker,” the “Big” actor said. “So I usually have a Diet Coke because if you didn’t have a long enough disco nap, you’re going to fall asleep at 11:45.”
As the restaurant staff was pouring up flutes of champagne Hanks asked for a bit to instead be poured into his Diet Coke.
Those dining with the actor thought he was crazy for the ask.
“I said, ‘Well, I may be insane, but I want to celebrate the season,’” Hanks said. “So I had a sip of this. Stephen, it was delicious.”
Colbert was then ready with two ice-filled glasses, a can of Diet Coke and a nice bottle of Veuve Clicquot Champagne.
Hanks shared with the crowd and host he drinks diet sodas because he has Type 2 diabetes.
“It’s really good,” Colbert conceded. “It’s strangely, strikingly, shamefully good.”
The last step was to name the beverage to which Hanks jammed the names together coming up with “The Diet Cokagne.”
Colbert went a different route: “We have the Tom Collins, we have the Tom Hanks.”
"The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" airs at 11:35 p.m. EST weeknights on CBS.
