In the immortal words of NeNe Leakes: bye, wig!

Sherri Shepherd shocked her audience on live television when she took her wig off in the middle of Tuesday’s episode of her talk show, throwing it into the crowd for added emphasis.

No, she wasn’t over her hairstyle when she did it, Shepherd did it to prove a point. After a video of pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts’ wig slipping off while in the middle of a presentation went viral, Shepherd spoke candidly about the clip on “Sherri.”

“When you wear wigs, you are trusting the person that put the wig on,” she shared, explaining that the hope is that the wig remains secure. “But the thing about wigs is when it starts sliding you can feel it slide. Because you will start with it down here and all of a sudden it keeps making its way up, especially if the wig weighs a lot.”

In that moment, “all you can do is what Sarah Jakes did” and pull the wig forward “because there is nothing you can do at that moment. You can’t throw down the mic, and walk out and try to fix it,” she stated.

Shepherd explained that she was “so inspired” by the viral clip because “the show must go on. She can’t start screaming.”

She took the inspiration one step further, jumping up from her own chair, at which point her own wig fell off. “The wig came off her hair. It came off her hair and you’re sitting there and what are you going to do? The show’s gotta go on!” she exclaimed, eventually throwing her wig at the audience and proclaiming “take it, y’all!”
