Billie Eilish’s new blonde locks are all thanks to the editing skills of a fan.

After seeing a photo where a fan had edited Billie’s hair color to the brassy blonde she is sporting now, the singer was intrigued by the style.

While chatting on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Eilish filled us in further about the new look and explained why she stepped away from her signature block and neon green look.

The “Your Power” singer said, “I’ve been wanting it blonde for a while.” She continued, “Then I saw a fan edit when I had green hair. It was me with whatever hair color I had, and they just edited blonde hair on me and I was like: ‘Ah, it’s so sick, I want it!’”

Eilish also shares that she was apprehensive to make the switch to blonde because her hair was in “bad condition.”

“I thought I would burn it all off if I tried, but I did it.”

The new blonde look goes hand-in-hand with the announcement of her second studio album, Happy Than Ever, which she revealed last month with her latest single, “Your Power.”

Then Billie and her new blonde shag graced the cover of Vogue where she broke on Instagram record for a second time.

After her stunning and daring cover shoot with Vogue, where the artist traded in her iconic baggy matching sets, for timeless and skin-tight lingerie, Billie found herself having to defend her decisions after an article from the Daily Mail accused the artist of being a “sell out.”

On Instagram, Eilish re-posted an edited graphic of a headline from a Daily Mail article that initially read: “Proof that money can make you change your values and ‘sell out’: Billie Eilish shocks fans by swapping baggy clothes for lingerie in Vogue — despite years of vowing to ‘hide her body.’”

Graphic creator, Emily Clarkson wrote “fixed it for ya,” and crossed out part of the headline, and highlighted the word “vow.” Clarkson said the word vow “implies she’s committing some mortal sin and let her fans down.”
