Anna Camp has come forward to reveal she recently had coronavirus and is urging her fans to stay safe by wearing face coverings.
In a lengthy Instagram post, Camp, who played Aubrey Posen in the “Pitch Perfect” franchise, disclosed she believes she contracted COVID-19 after failing to wear a face mask in public one time.
“I felt it was my responsibility to share that I ended up getting Covid-19. I have since tested negative, but I was extremely sick for over three weeks and still have lingering symptoms,” the 37-year-old captioned a photo wearing a pink face mask.
"I was incredibly safe. I wore a mask. I used hand sanitizer. One time, when the world was starting to open up, I decided to forgo wearing my mask. One. Time. And I ended up getting it," she added.
Camp was adamant that COVID-19 is nothing like the flu and listed some of her symptoms and other lasting effects.
“I’m only smelling about 30 percent of how I used to now. Other persistent symptoms are (a month later) dizziness, extreme fatigue, impacted sinuses, upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, and fever,” the actress shared.
"I’m lucky. Because I didn’t die. But people are," she continued. "Please wear ur mask. It can happen any time. And it can happen to anyone. Even that one time you feel safe. We can all make a difference. Wearing a mask is saving lives."
After sharing her experience, many of Camp’s celebrity pals chimed in by offering their words of support.
“Oh how scary!! I’m praying you’re on the mend! And yes, a MASK!!!,” wrote “Mad Men” star January Jones.
“A powerful reminder, thank you for being so open. And so grateful you are in the process of recovering!” added Bryce Dallas Howard.
“I love your post. Thank you for sharing about your experience and the importance of wearing a mask. I’m so glad you are getting better. Sending you lots of love,” commented “The Office” actress Jenna Fischer.
Camp can currently be seen in two Netflix films: “The Lovebirds” with Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani, and “Desperados” with Nasim Pedrad and Sarah Burns.
