Something is up in the world of the Foo Fighters.

On Wednesday night, the band dropped two 30-second teaser visuals on Twitter with all signs pointing to an announcement about new music. Each video featured the caption “#LPX,” which is in reference to their next album would mark the tenth in their career.

The first teaser video the Foo Fighters put out features a close-up of the eye of guitarist Pat Smear and is accompanied by a rhythm track of a bass drum and handclaps.

The second video the band put out mimics the first one and features a close-up of drummer Taylor Hawkins. The audio adds a snare drum to the previously released rhythm track painting a more complete picture of what it is the Foo Fighters are set to release.

All signs are pointing towards an announcement of a new Foo Fighters album, but they’re going to make fans stay patient before giving an official release. Up to this point, the band has been revealing new music one instrument at a time. At this rate, their next tease could be the addition of a cowbell, something we wholeheartedly support.

Foo Fighters were just announced as the musical guests on this weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live making it the perfect opportunity to premiere a new single.

Their appearance on SNL this weekend marks their eighth performance on the show and their first since 2017.

Keep your eyes peeled as it’s clear the Foo Fighters have something up their sleeve. Earlier this year, Dave Grohl revealed the band has a ton of material ready to go.

"We put about a year's worth of work into this year - meaning we started preparing multiple projects all to release now," Grohl said at the time. "There was a documentary, there was another secret project that we were so excited about, there was a tour, there's a new album, we made a video."

"It's just a matter of figuring out when the world is ready because I think that's a little more important than the Foo Fighters.”
