For the post, Ari shared the blurry closeup, red lipstick wearing pic we’ve been seeing all over her IG as of late, as well as an additional two, much clearer, and a bit more distanced snapshots from the same photoshoot.

eternal sunshine will mark Grande’s first album release since Positions dropped in 2020. Over the last few months, the singer has quietly teased the record with videos and photos of her in the studio. The album’s first single, “yes, and?” arrived on January 12, taking aim at those critics and skeptics, who seem concerned with her every move, with just the right amount of sass and slay.

So, why eternal sunshine? Well, IYKYK. Ariana is a major Jim Carrey fan, so odds are the album title was inspired by the beloved Michel Gondry and Charlie Kaufman 2004 film, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, starring Carrey and Kate Winslet.

To help that hypothesis, we look to Ariana Grande‘s hint-dropping tactics in the lead-up to her latest single, “yes, and?” offering fans a few, now less confusing clues, about her upcoming album era. In the song’s music video, a red card showed “ag7” above the coordinates to South Edison Beach in Montauk, New York. And as it turns out, Montauk was the prime filming location for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

And then there’s also the passage from Alexander Pope’s 1717 poetic “Eloisa to Abelard” Ari shared on Instagram. “How happy is the blameless vestal’s lot! the world forgetting by the world forgot. Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind! Each pay’r accepted. and each wish resign’d.”

As of now, no tracklist has been shared, but if “yes, and?” is any indication, eternal sunshine will not disappoint.
