With 12 songs, two already hitting #1, the new album is full of good music from the superstar duo, but they say “Steal My Love,” just stands out in a special way.
“We wrote that song on Zoom actually,” Dan, who has songwriting credits on the tune, told Audacy's Katie Neal. “We came up with this melody and this hook and it felt really good. We couldn’t stop listening to it. When those drums hit in that chorus, makes you feel incredible.”
When taken to their team for another opinion, the duo received all the reassurance they needed to make the song their next single after a dance party in their boss’ office.
“I remember, we were sittin’ [and] playing the album for our team and John Esposito — he’s the boss, president of Warner Music Nashville — [We] played the song for him [and] first chorus, he’s out of his chair, fully dancing. He’s doing the ‘Lying’ dance,” Dan said, referring to the duo’s upbeat new music video for the song “Lying.” “He’s on that level. I’m like, ‘You know what? It’s gotta be the single.’ If we took that away from him it wouldn’t be good,” he said, laughing.
Dan + Shay hope to continue that dance party as the tune meets the ears of their fans full of good vibes perfect harmonies and a good groove.
“We just want to put stuff out there that makes people feel good and that they want to listen to on repeat they want to turn it up loud and we think this one is just really going to go off… it’s going to be a moment.”
