With Arya being born and bread in Lagos, Buck was curious if New York City is everything she thought it would be. “It’s way more than I imagined, I can't lie,” Arya shared. “There’s a lot, it reminds me of Lagos, but more advanced version of Lagos… Lagos is fast, it’s city, it’s hustle and bustle.”

Discussing how she made a deal with her mother to finish school before pursing music, Arya shared that she graduated early, and as soon as she did “it was go time.”

Growing up, Starr was tuning into MTV to listen to Rihanna and Beyoncé, watching Disney channel shows like Hannah Montana. “I thought I was gonna be the next like, Black Hannah Montana. Like I used to tell people that I'm gonna be in Disney soon.”

Arya's dreams of stardom began at a young age, “I remember like at 13, the only thing that would give me comfort was knowing I was gonna be a superstar. .. Like, if my friends didn't talk to me again or if I got bullied, I'll just be like, wait till I become a superstar.”

First making a name for herself internationally, Ayra is now one of Afrobeats leading artists. To hear everything Starr had to share about her living out her dream and becoming a superstar, plus all details about her new music and more, listen to the entire interview above.
