The rapper tells us, “The song 'Got It Like That' is about the confident attitude that I believe everyone should have in their everyday lives. Both Destiny and Tyla have a unique music sound and you can feel their confidence and positive energies. They were perfect collaborators because we all represent a new generation of music, we might be in different parts of the world and we all show it differently, but I feel we have similar spirits. “
The former iKon member also shares that the new track “is about the mindset that we all have or should have. You could be from Korea; you could be from the States, anywhere around the world. Everyone is going to have their own struggles they face. I will not pretend that I know it because that is not real, if you don’t live it you can’t know it, what I can do is to try to understand it and respect how people show it. All artists on this song push their music outside the box, and we all represent something new and different, this song is the right vibe to bring that together and to life. It was fun working on it.”
The new single exudes a sense of confidence and an energy of self-assurance. Oftentimes, for B.I confidence and mental health practices intertwine. The artist explains, “I think a lot of people, me too, want to show only strength when in reality they are vulnerable. I guess if I had to say an exercise, I believe in having good energy, encouraging myself every morning. It's not just me, everyone does this right?”
With his album coming later this month, B.I shared a few insights into the new music and says that “Got It Like That,” “has a totally different vibe from my album coming later this month,” but also adds, “my full album I’d love to tell you, but you’ll just have to wait and find out!”
Over the years, cultivating his rap skills, the South Korean artist says he’s been strongly influenced by Kanye West, adding, “I’ve always been known for my wordplay as a lyricist in my music. I was also influenced by Eminem, Nelly, Lil Wayne and Drake. There's just so many artists I could name.”
As we near B.I’s solo release the artist reflected on where he all started and what he would say to his younger self. He explains, “I think I’d tell him to relax a bit, I’ve always felt a lot of pressure, looked straight and never turned back. Sometimes though, slowing down and enjoying the scenery once in a while isn’t the worst thing.”
Finally, the singer shared a messages to his fans in the U.S. speaking about is experience participating at South By Southwest. “It was an unforgettable experience. Ever since then I’ve imagined myself performing in front of my US fans,” notes B.I.
He adds, “I’m here today because of my fans who’ve supported me through everything, I am who I am mentally and emotionally because of the love they’ve shown me. I hope everyone will continue to support me on my journey because I guarantee you there’s much more soon.”
