Nominated for Best Traditional R&B Performance for his song “Keeps On Fallin’” featuring Ella Mai, Keith asked Babyface what it meant for him to be nominated this year, for this project.
“So this one, when this happened, y’know you go through a period in your career and things are happening like that… you never expect it. But I think this one would be a little bit more unexpected at this particular point in my career,” Babyface said. “So to get it at this point, to still be at a place of being nominated,” and not just honored for past work, “but the work that you do now, it makes it an extra honor, I feel privileged to be in the conversation” he added.
When asked about his secret/approach to making music and and achieving 5 decades of success, Babyface offered up, “I think as a musician I’ve always tried to not be one particular thing and be able to cross different genres.” Always looking at it as — “if you’re a full musician you should be able to do more than one thing… And listening to music with the intention of 'what is it that people love about it?'”
