“I gotta make sure that people know that I’m not just the guy with the dog though,” Chase told Audacy’s Rob + Holly as Jack laid across his lap in the car. “I do have music as well.” Oops, sorry Chase. So about that music…
“It’s been a crazy career,” Chase shared. “A lot of ups and downs and moments where people thought I was gone… It’s like, man, if we have a couple songs that don’t work here or there, whatever… we’re going out and selling out these shows and that’s what is most important to me. Singing a song live to people… seein’ ‘em face to face… getting to know them, getting to hang out with them and having a special night.”
As we all experienced, having live shows taken away due to the global pandemic was tough, especially for artists like Chase who credit touring for their success. However, it’s not all bad for Chase, who says good things are to come from the time away.
“That [live music experience] was all ripped away,” Chase shared. “But that also gave us opportunities this last year to step away from it, realize how important it is and write even better music.”
“I’ll say this… My next record is going to be something pretty special.”
Sounds like it’s safe to set out expectations pretty high. Can’t wait!
In the meantime, we’re having fun watching Chase climb the charts with his current single, “Drinkin’ Beer. Talkin’ God. Amen. (feat. Florida Georgia Line).” The single is a different flavor from Chase, who isn’t known to collaborate with other artists much, but saw a good fit with his buddies Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelly.
“I’ve kind of, for the most part, in my career stuck to myself when it comes to music, I don’t have a lot of calls out there” Chase said. “This one makes perfect sense because we literally lived in a house, wrote our first #1 song together and now here we are 10 years later… It’s a lot of fun, full circle moment for sure.”
With the success of the current collab, it’s no wonder Chase is ready to feature another one on his next album.
“I like the collab thing, I think it’s fun,” he shared. “I have one coming on my next record with Colbie Caillat, she’s awesome… I don’t know what that song’s going to end up sounding like, we’re not done with it yet, but she’s awesome!”
We look forward to all the great things to come from Chase this year and can’t wait to see him out on the road soon! For even more about new music, touring and an adorable cameo from puppy Jack, be sure to watch Rob + Holly’s full interview with Chase above!
