Young collected three nominations this year for his single with Kane Brown, "Famous Friends” in the Single of the Year, Musical Event of the Year and Music Video of the Year categories.

“You cross your fingers and you hope you’re going to get nominated every time awards season comes around, but having three nominations on that song is pretty awesome,” Chris told Audacy’s Jesse Addy.

“I’m really just seeing the level of connection that people have to the song," Young said of the song that includes the names of real people from his hometown. "This is all about kind of, giving shout outs and props to people that you grew up with that help make you who you are. [They] might not be famous to everybody else, but they are to you, they are in your hometown and I just think that idea really did carry over to everybody.”

So what will Young do to celebrate if he takes home a win in all three categories?

“We’re not even gonna go there,” Young said in disbelief. “I’m just excited to be nominated.”

Chris’ 2021 noms are number four, five and six overall, after he received three prior in years past. Young collects his first nomination for Single and Music Video of the Year, while celebrating his second in the Musical Event category. In addition to credits as an artist, Chris earned recognition as a producer for both the Single and Musical Event categories.

This year’s CMA Awards are scheduled to air November 10 on ABC.
