'Definitely can't wait for this to be out there and for everybody to have it'

Nearly four years since his latest album release, Chris Young is readying to debut his 8th studio album, Famous Friends, releasing August 6. With the title track already earning a #1 spot on the charts and an award for Best Collaborative Video at last month's CMT Music Awards, it's very clear this project will be be well worth the wait.

"I don't think this album would be what it was had I not had the amount of time that I've had to make it," Chris told Audacy's Katie Neal. "Definitely can't wait for this to be out there and for everybody to have it."

With an album titled, Famous Friends, it's only appropriate that Young feature some real-life famous friends on the project, and lucky for us fans, those friends are Dan + Shay's Shay Mooney and solo artists Mitchell Tenpenny and Lauren Alaina.

"We've been friends for a while and we've started writing more and more together," Chris shared of fellow Nashville-native, Tenpenny, who is featured on the song, "At The End Of A Bar." As for Mooney singing backup vocals on, "Town Ain't Big Enough (Feat. Lauren Alaina)," Chris shared, "We co-wrote that song together."

The wildly successful title track has offered Young a once-in-a-lifetime experience as he performs it in front of live audiences who already know every word to the #1 song.

"That will never happen again in my career," Chris said, referring to playing song live for the first time after it hit #1. " It was like OK, the very first time I play this in front of an actual large crowd, it's a hit already. I don't see any of the beginning. It was incredible."

In anticipation of the forthcoming album, Young released a brand new track from the project today titled, "One Of Them Nights."
