COJO took to Instagram this week to notify fans of the new single and encourage them to pre-save by posting a touching video showcasing the heartfelt tune that tributes his wife, Brandi.
“My favorite lyric in ‘The Painter’ is ‘for every wall I built, she saw a canvas,’” Johnson said of the song that highlights his wife’s positive impact on his life. “If there’s anything that describes my marriage with my wife, Brandi, it’s that line. And that’s why we’ve been together for 15 years.”
A video posted to Johnson’s Instagram page features a clip of the song and brings the lyrics to life as it showcases black and white photos of he and Brandi across the years all leading up to a vibrant, color-filled family photo of them with their two daughters at the end.
“I hope my fans are encouraged to take the time to appreciate the people they have around them,” Johnson said of his hopes for the tune. “The ones who make their life beautiful and bring all the beautiful colors to their world when it could just be black and white and dark. Remember them and tell them you love them.”
“The Painter,” is the first song off his forthcoming double album, which he teased earlier this year to Audacy’s Gunner & Cheyenne at Country Thunder Music Festival in Arizona.
