Dan + Shay have nothing to worry about when it comes to the success of their music, but the humble duo shared some light-hearted “back-up plans” just in case things head south.

“I, myself am actually turning into a comic, not professionally, but you know — freelance. I’m a freelance comedian,” the duo’s Shay Mooney joked when asked by Audacy’s Rob + Holly who his favorite comedian was.
In support of exploring the backup career, Rob teased Shay saying he could get his start on a cruise ship (whenever those become a thing again).
“You guys gotta buy Good Things,’" Shay laughed referring to the release of their new album. “Because if this doesn’t work out, I’m going to have to be a comedian and you guys can see, it’s not going to go as well. I’m not going to be a great comedian,” he laughed.
Dan, on the other hand has sights set on being a wedding singer.
“We say, if all this stuff goes away, we’ve got a few wedding songs,” said Dan. “We could still probably make a living going out and playing at private weddings all over the place.” He’s not wrong!
While we support these creative careers, we must say, we’re surprised neither of them desire to pursue professional dancing after the relcent release of their music video for “Lying,” which showcases the duo as they perform a choreographed line dance.
“We had absolutely nothing to do with making up that dance, thank God,” said Shay.
“I was like, in front of the mirror in my hotel room like, ‘OK, try not to look like an idiot.’ I’m practicing steps,” added Dan.
“I like that there’s improv to it. You said there’s a part where you just do you own things, right?” Asked Rob.
“Improv is a nice way of saying, like, we didn’t know all of the moves,” Shay admits, laughing. “We’re just like ‘I love all the improv we’re doing,’ meanwhile, in our minds we’re like, ‘everybody panic ‘cause I don’t know anything!’”
