This week, we were given a perfect example of the powerful connection there is between our listeners and one of Country music's most beloved artists.
Audacy Country host Kelly Ford paid a visit to Columbian Fire Company #1 in Rockland County, New York to help honor and remember fallen firefighter Jared Lloyd who died in the line of duty on March 23rd in a fire at an assisted living facility in Spring Valley, NY. She also arranged a ZOOM call with Jared's favorite artist, Darius Rucker.

Darius spent half an hour talking to the fire company and listening to stories about Jared as well as connecting with Jared's two young sons, one of whom is named Darius, after Rucker.

Jared's oldest son, Logan, sang "Wagon Wheel" throughout the ZOOM and the whole company ended the night by singing Rucker's 2013 hit. Don't miss the video below... it will give you chills. Thank you to Daruis for a truly special night.
