Dirty Heads have been around 20+ years, and their musical road always seems to lead them back to where they started — acoustic music.
LISTEN NOW: Dirty Heads hint an acoustic album may be in the near future
Ahead of their set at Audacy’s Riptide Music Festival, the duo’s Jared Watson and Dustin Bushnell caught up with Audacy’s Ashley O to talk about their music, fans, tours and what’s to come in the Hard Rock Artist Lounge.
During their conversation, the guys opened up about their pandemic project, which included performing live, acoustic shows for fans online to keep music alive and well during trying times. “It was way more work than we thought,” laughed Watson. “It was cool though because we didn’t know how stir crazy we would go, so looking back on it, I’m like, ‘Man, that really helped.’”
Turns out, it wasn’t only enjoyable for them, but very well-received by their fans, which has the guys thinking about lots more acoustic music in the future.
“We always talk about it,” they said in response to the idea of an acoustic tour. “That’s how this band started — with just me and him sitting on stools with an acoustic guitar so it’s kind of like, our roots. We’re very comfortable in the acoustic setting, so yeah, we talk about it all the time.”
They continued, “Possibly an album, an acoustic album, an acoustic tour. That’s been the whispers — before we do our next full length [album], we’ll most-likely do an acoustic album.”
Sounds like there’s lots of exciting stuff to come! In the meantime, to hear more from the guys. Check out their full interview with Ashley O above.
