In a fan-caught video, Drake is heard saying, “Make new friends. If you drink, drink some liquor. If you smoke, smoke... And if you like somebody, like my dad says, keep f***ing,” he told the crowd.
“I will be back soon” he continued, “I have an album dropping for you in, like, two weeks or some s***. But until then, just know, you’re always with me and I’m always thinking of you. Everything I do is for you. Every time I step in that booth, I hope I make you proud.”
So, as we patiently wait for mid-August to come, here’s what we know so far:
Shortly after the November release of his collab album with 21 Savage, Her Loss, during a show at the Apollo in New York City on January 21, Drake first began alluding to the fact that he was already cooking up something new.
Waiting six months before sharing anything new, this latest update comes a little over a month after Drake clued us in that his new project had a name -- For All the Dogs -- just hours after announcing the release of his first poetry book, Titles Ruin Everything: A Stream of Consciousness, on June 24.
Since then, Drake has been slowly gearing up for the release, yet mostly remaining mum about the hotly anticipated album, other than telling his Detroit crowd on July 8, that For All the Dogs will feature a track with long-time friend and collaborator Nicki Minaj. Drake has kept us busy guessing by regularly sharing pictures of dogs and dog memorabilia on his IG stories, as well as being seen out in public wearing various dog masks.
Wonder if we’ll get a track list before those “like two weeks” are up…
