Church joined a select group of artists that have announced a full blown tour ever since the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the live music industry. Appropriately, the tour is named The Gather Again Tour and will kick off on September 17, 2021 at the Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky.
“When I talked to you back in February I told you that a North American tour was coming, but we were still waiting on the right time to release the details. I’m excited to share that the time is now,” Church said in a video announcing the tour.
“I cannot wait to get back on the road to play live music to good friends.”
Church took a different approach from his musical peers when it came to planning concerts during quarantine. Rather than performing livestream shows or other online events, he met with scientists, industry leaders, and venue managers to figure out the best and safest way to perform in person again. As such, he’s been a big proponent of the COVID-19 vaccine.
“It became very clear to me that the only way to really get back to normal is through vaccinations,” he recently told Billboard. "You’ve got to get needles in arms.”
2021 looks to be an exciting time for Eric Church. Not only is he nominated for the prestigious Entertainer of the Year award at the 2021 ACM Awards, he also has a triple album on the way. Titled Heart & Soul, the triple album will see the release of three separate recordings all in a one week time period this April.
The nine-song Heart is set to be released on April 16 and will feature his hit single "Stick That in Your Country Song," as well as the previously released "Never Break Heart" and "Crazyland" plus six more that you haven't heard.
On April 20, Church will drop &, a six-song album featuring the already released "Through My Ray-Bans" and "Doing Life With Me.” Then on April 23, Church will share the last record Soul with nine total songs including “Hell of a View.”
Tickets for the U.S. dates of his tour will go on sale May 4 to members of his fan club, the Church Choir, while the general public will be able to buy tickets on May 7. You can purchase tickets to any concert on Eric Church’s The Gather Again Tour here.
