While votes are being counted to determine the results of the 2020 election, you may be looking back to a time when political disagreements between Americans were the stuff of lighthearted sitcoms, not heated arguments.
If so, get ready for a blast from the past from the cast of “Family Ties.” The original cast of the 1980s sitcom, in which Michael J. Fox played a young conservative who agreed to disagree with the politics of his liberal parents, is slated to reunite on November 10, reports the New York Post. “Family Ties” aired from 1982 to 1989 on NBC.
Fox, Meredith Baxter, Michael Gross, Marc Price, Scott Valentine, and Tina Yothers will take part in “Stars in the House,” a benefit series hosted by Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley.
The reunion will raise money for the Actors Fund, which provides aid to members of the artistic community who need help paying for medical bills, rent, and even groceries.

Though Fox appeared in a handful of television shows and movies prior to “Family Ties,” the show and his subsequent performances in “Teen Wolf” and the “Back to the Future” series catapulted him into stardom.

Fox also met his wife, Tracy Pollan, on the set of the show. In 1985, she was cast to play Alex’s love interest, Ellen Reed. "I was only there for one season," Pollan told Today in a 2015 interview. "And in so many ways, it was such an important part of my life both, obviously, personally and also in terms of my career. And it was such a short, intense period of time. But, I mean, it changed my life in every way."
The couple tied the knot in 1988, three years before the actor was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
“The kind of support she gives me, I feel like a husband, a father and a friend first, and then somewhere way down the line, I’m someone with Parkinson’s," Fox said about his wife of 32 years.
“Every day we have something we laugh about for a good two minutes,” the 59-year-old told People.
