With just one day until KROQ’s 33rd annual Almost Acoustic Christmas, Klein and Ally are in a giving mood.

Talking about giving away an entire section at the concert to the firefighters who have been working around the clock on the raging Franklin Fire in Malibu, California, during their show, the duo ran their idea by Mike Salas, KROQ’s Director of Marketing and Promotion.

Unlike some of Klein and Ally’s previous show suggestions that got shut down, it didn’t take any convincing for Mike to hop on board, promising to have a dedicated section for first responders.

Since the entire conversation was had on-air, and therefore the impromptu announcement shared live, local firefighter Tony, a fire caption for Los Angeles county and Vice President of the Union Board called in to chat and thank Klein and Ally for “recognizing all the hard work that all the men and women are doing out there.” Noting, “we have about 2,000 firefighters still out there actively working, missing time from their families, holiday events… and everything else.” Adding, “So you guys acknowledging us goes a really long way.”

Following the sharing of mutual adoration, Klein filled in Tony on their plan of a dedicated first responders section at tomorrow’s KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas. Responding to the exciting news in the most firefighter way possible, Tony said, “Holy Smokes! That would be phenomenal.” Going on to thank him and Ally, adding, “like I said, a lot of these people have been out here for days, and it’d be a really great opportunity for them to kind of reconnect with their families."
