The track was released under the moniker of Dream Widow as the song comes from their never released self-titled album, according to the YouTube description. Hiding behind that moniker are the Foo Fighters.
If you’re a fan of metal then you’re in for a treat as “March of the Insane” is pure thrash from the get go. The lyric video kicks off with a shot of a blood-splattered tape reel and immediately goes from 0-60 once the music kicks in.
It’s likely not the last we’ve heard of Dream Widow as the Foo Fighters’ upcoming horror comedy film Studio 666 is set to drop on February 25th where we’ll likely find out more about this band.
Directed by BJ McDonnell, Studio 666 stars each member of the Foos as Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, and Rami Jaffee will hit the big screen. Studio 666 marks the first full-length feature film from the group.
The film is based off a story written Grohl as the Foos move into an Encino, California mansion "steeped in grisly rock and roll history" as they record their album Medicine At Midnight. A press release explains more details of the film’s plot as Grohl finds himself "grappling with supernatural forces that threaten both the completion of the album and the lives of the band."
Grohl explained the origins of this story and at this point in their career, we can fully appreciate why the band opted to go this route. “After decades of ridiculous music videos and numerous music documentaries under our collective belts, it was finally time to take it to the next level… A full length feature horror comedy film,” Grohl said.
“Like most things FOO, 'Studio 666' began with a far-fetched idea that blossomed into something bigger than we ever imagined possible.”
