At first listen to the sounds Glaive, you'd never assume he hasn't even made it to his sixteenth birthday yet. The North Carolina native hasn't been on the scene for very long, but his impact is already breaking away from Soundcloud posts and into the mainstream.
Speaking with Morgan Freed on RADIO.COM's Emo Nite, Glaive provided the perfect introduction to himself and his music.

"If I'm being honest with you, I made music because I was bored," he tells us during the show this week. "I've always enjoyed singing around the house and just listening to music in general, but I never thought it would do anything for my life... but it has now and I'm so grateful."
"I had no plan of it doing as well as it's doing," Glaive says humbly.
Glaive's latest, "dnd," was featured on the show this week.
"I definitely think living in the middle of nowhere affected my sound," he tells Morgan, who equates Glaive's songwriting to that of past midwestern emo bands who grew up with nothing to do except make music with their friends. "I think if I lived in a city I would be doing other things besides music, but considering there's pretty much nothing to do here at all... music was just the logical next step. Being alone and doing your own thing is a big part of my music, and I wouldn't have been doing that in a big city."
Glaive's musical style in the past has been described as "Hyperpop," a term he's certainly not using on his own. With all of the different elements in his work, he agrees with Morgan who sees them simply as beautiful, sometimes sad pop songs.
"I would definitely say 'sad pop' is a very good way to say it... just pop music in general. Obviously the term that's been coined by Spotify is 'hyperpop,' but I personally wouldn't think I make hyperpop, because hyperpop isn't real. It's just loads of different songs put into one genre. It's too large and broad to classify under one name."
"People can call my music whatever," says Glaive. "If they enjoy it, the genre to me doesn't matter. Just listen to the music and if you enjoy it, keep listening."
As we mentioned earlier Glaive is pushing 16-years-old, and is still going to school while at the same time navigating the music industry as well as his studies. "It's definitely been challenging recently," he admits, "but at the same time I'm very fortunate to have it being all online because I have loads of time to do stuff like this. I would be getting out of school right now if I was actually going... but it does kind of sacrifice my grades being a little bit on the lower end."
