Apparently, Oakland punk Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day found himself a little confused after witnessing the current Emo revival at Las Vegas' When We Were Young festival.

“Emo was dead – then just five years later we’re having emo club nights. Like, aren’t you supposed to wait another five years for this?" he asked. "My Chemical Romance just broke up!" Bille Joe adds while speaking with The Guardian in a new interview, although technically My Chem called it quits in 2013.
Armstrong explains he thinks it's the fault of "streaming and the way things go viral now."
"There’s this band, the Walters, that broke up four years ago and suddenly they have this song that’s everywhere. Same thing with Deftones," he continues. "All of a sudden their music is showing up on all these TikTok videos. There’s this new algorithmic way of discovering new stuff."
Green Day has one of the most anticipated Alternative albums on the docket for the new year, and will be hitting the road in the new year with Rancid and The Smashing Pumpkins.
