Just as predicted, Green Day is set to release an anniversary edition of their award winning album Dookie with previously unheard demos, live recordings, limited edition vinyl and more. Dookie (30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) will be made up of a massive 65 songs, divided among the re-release, 10 four-track demos, 7 cassette demos, 6 outtakes, and two live, full concert recordings. The collection will be released as a six LP vinyl box set and a four-CD box set, with limited edition colored LPs available for pre-order on their store and in indie record shops. In what the band called, “a little treat” for fans, the 10 four-track demos are digitally out now and the full collection will follow with its complete release on September 29.

But that’s not all folks - the full Deluxe Edition is also full of collector’s items! The CD Dookie (30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)  will include two stickers, a five-button merch set, a single soft vinyl magnet, and an ironically appropriate air freshener. The LP collection will include all this, as well as a poster of the alternate cover art, postcard, paper airplane, bumper sticker, a black-and-white “Coloring Page” cover litho insert, and in true, cheeky Green Day style - a roll of Dookie dog poop bags.

It’s an extensive release for an even more influential album, which set off the launch of an entire musical movement. As stated perfectly by the Green Day press release, “Dookie’s influence remains downright inescapable.” Anthems like, “Basket Case,” “When I Come Around,” and “Welcome To Paradise” defined a new generation of rock and punk in the 90s. Dookie officially put Green Day on the map, awarding them four 1995 GRAMMY nominations and a win for Best Alternative Performance. And now, thirty years later, the album has crossed entire generations. “To put it in perspective,” the release wrote, “Dookie has lived through five presidential administrations, Y2K, social media, a global pandemic, and the birth of countless acolytes. However, there’s still nothing like it after all of this time.”

The Dookie (30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) will be released on September 29, 2023, with presale and preorder available here. And happy birthday to Dookie, hope it stinks!
