Musicians and celebrities alike will gather by virtual means to celebrate the 21st annual Latin GRAMMY Awards, November 19, with Recording Academy officials hinting to a new audience format amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“If local conditions are favorable in November, The Latin Academy will consider hosting a live audience telecast composed primarily of nominees, presenters and performers,” read an official statement from the academy. GRAMMY officials say the show will stream live from Miami, Florida, and promise to adhere strictly to safety guideline and protocols. Performances and appearances will be announced at a later date."

This year’s theme, “Music Makes Us Human,” aims to showcase the powerful diversity of the Latin genre, and share stories of hope, community, sense of purpose, and celebration.

"Music has always been a force that brings our community together and this year more than ever we are proud to celebrate the music that has inspired, uplifted and moved us," said Jessica Rodriguez, Chief Marketing Officer and President of Entertainment of Univision. She says the ceremony will be “one of the most groundbreaking shows of the year with memorable performances and special moments sure to delight our audiences."

The 21st Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards airs on Univision, Thursday Nov. 19, at 8PM ET.
