The K-Pop member recently posted a photo on the Weverse platform sharing his new, short, Military locks ahead of his departure for five weeks of basic training at Wongju, south of Seoul.

“I love you all. ARMY, I will return safely,” he wrote addressing the BTS fandom referred to as “ARMY.”

J-Hope is the second of the 7-member group to enlist for service fulfilling South Korea’s requirement of all able-bodied, male citizens, to serve for at least 18 months between the ages of 18 and 30. He follows in the footsteps of bandmate, Jin, who began his service in December 2022.

The other five BTS members all plan to serve in their own time, while all seven have expressed desire to reunite once their service fulfillments are complete.

“Both the company and the members of BTS are looking forward to reconvening as a group again around 2025 following their service commitment,” a statement by BIGHIT MUSIC stated.
