Even after facing a two-month delay, and complications due to the pandemic nothing was going to stand in the way of XXL’s release of the highly anticipated “2020 Freshman Class.” Not only is the moment an incredible achievement for those featured in the class, but fans of Hip Hop look to the “Freshman” for new musical experiences.
Artists from all over the U.S. are highlighted in this year’s class. From repping Louisville to New York, to Atlanta to Las Vegas, artists such as Jack Harlow, Mulatto, Baby Keem and Lil Tjay will certainly be ones to watch, along with their other “Freshman" classmates.
Earlier this year Pop Smoke was chosen as a “Freshman” class member, however this year we tragically lost the up and coming star due to a fatal shooting incident. While his album was posthumously released this past July, XXL will still keep the drill music icon in the “2020 Freshman Class” as a way to commemorate and honor the young star. In a recent press release about the new Freshman, it’s stated that “the issue features an unreleased interview from Pop’s January visit with us where he discussed his career and the Brooklyn drill scene.”
Throughout the month XXL plans to release freestyles and interviews with the new highly regarded Freshman. The new Freshman print issues will be available on stands on September 1.
The entire “2020 Freshman Class” includes NLE Choppa, Polo G, Chika, Baby Keem, Mulatto, Jack Harlow, Rod Wave, Lil Tjay, Calboy, Fivio Foreign, Lil Keed and 24kGoldn.
